Directions for Contributors

The New Educational Review includes the manuscripts in English that describe or synthesize both theoretical and empirical research in the sciences of education, sociology of education and psychology of teaching, and attempts to reflect the variety of future currents in these fields. The articles may be of two types:

papers - formal presentations of significant research projects,

correspondence - general comments, brief descriptions of new results, letters to the Editor.

Apart from the main articles, each issue may also contain essays, reviews of books and international conferences that will be held in the Slovak Republic, Poland and the Czech Republic, together with a section on research reports focusing on recently completed empirical work.

Contributors should submit two copies of each manuscript to be considered for publication (length of the manuscript is limited to 10 pages). In addition, the authors should keep an exact copy so the editors can refer to specifi c pages and lines if questions arise. Th e manuscript should be double-spaced with wide margins. Manuscripts will not be returned except for editorial reasons.

Th e following information should be provided on the fi rst page: the title, the author’s name and full address, an abstract of about 100 words. It should precede the text and include brief statements of the problem, the method, the data, and conclusions. In the case of a manuscript commenting on an article previously published in the journal, the abstract should state the topics covered and central thesis. Below the abstract the key words should be written.

If any of the fi ndings reported in this manuscript have been published elsewhere, or if there are plans to use any or all of the fi ndings in other manuscripts for publication, the author(s) should explain the intent and the circumstances at the time of fi rst submission.

Reproductions of fi gures (graphs and charts) may be submitted for review purposes, but fi gures must be supplied in their original source fi les if the manuscript is accepted for publication. Tables, graphs, and figures should be placed on individual pages.

Avoid explanatory notes whenever possible by incorporating their content in the text. For essential notes identify them by consecutive superscripts and list them in a section titled Notes at the end of the text.

Principles of citations in the text. Th e name of the author, the year of publication and the page number in parentheses. References should be placed at the end of the article in the alphabetical order.

All manuscripts are blind reviewed. Accepted manuscripts are normally published within six months of acceptance. Each author receives one complimentary copy of the issue in which his or her article appears and permission to reproduce additional copies of the article.

Accepted manuscripts must be submitted electronically as Word fi les with minimal formatting in Times New Roman. Do not use word-processing styles, forced section or page breaks, or automatic footnotes. E-mail tables in one separate file and figures in another separate file. Send a hard-copy version of text, tables, and figures as back up.
